Audio Post - Indhak kaadhal - My composition - Narayanan Venkitu's lyrics

this is an audio post - click to play

Narayanan Venkitu, a multi-talented and widely known fellow blogger, had come up with some nice lyrics for which the musicians of blogosphere had given very nice tunes. This is my tune for his lyrics. Did not think much about the tune, just sang as it came in my mind. Guess I am heavily influcend by MSV-SPB style. Your thoughts ?

  1. Wow.... what do i say about this... Awesome...murali... This is too good for an impromptu show.. This shows your experience and devotion towards music... nicely sung...

    "aadhi manidhan kaadhalukkup pinnE
    aduththa kaadhal idhuthaan"

The above song's charanams are identical with this kavidhai. I was able to even sqeeze the opening lines to the original tune!

Good impromtu, MuraLi. Your version was a bit of sad, though, as Mr.'AP' said!

  3. Anand and SK : thanks.

sad ? adada..seems like my much intended romance is coming through as sadness. aVLo dhan level of delivery :)

SPB maadhiri ange inge sirichchu paadirundhaa konjam better aa irundhirukkum pola :)..btw, the third charanam "iruthi varai" was meant to be a little sad..since it was getting 'senti' in those lines.

  5. it sounds something like lost love to me.. Unfortunately, I couldnt really understand the lyrics.. Its really good for an impromptu composition.. Esp in the parts which go high.. Lots of raaga changes.. Did u have a pre planned raga on ur mind when u sang? If so, you can share it here..

No. I had no raga in mind when composing. just sang as it came.

  7. Thanks for singing the song.

Yeah, I felt like listening to a MSV / SPB combo.

Like the others have mentioned there is a bit of 'sadness' as well in your composition. Not sure if that was intentional ( experiences :) ) ..but the net result was good.

Like Prabhu said...maybe you should try something with your Keyboard..( once you are done with your studies etc.)

Thanks again Murali, I appreciate it.

  10. mm.. I am not sure why everyone feels its a saddy saddy song.
    lol sorry murali.
It didnt particularly come across as a sad song to me. I liked the hindustani classic kinda prelude and the transition into the first charanam. Smooth and nice. Following that, the pace, i thought slowed down and there was turn in mood. The lyrics did change and have a low tone, and i am guessing you were trying to follow the same. But the transition wasnt as free flowing..an apparent jump. May be the lack of bgm could be a cause.. and with the bgm you could have lead the listener to what was coming after.

But very nicely done i thought :)looking fwd to more.

  11. Murali - All that is missing the tabla. With that you would had a great slow number. Well done.

  16. Good one Murali. Esp liked the aalap in the beginning. It didnt sound sad to me but soulful.

Been listening to other versions of the same song by other bloggers, this is such a treat. Should thank N Venkitu for motivating the musicians to sing "Ore paadal in pala raagam" :)

Murali, xecelent rendition. 3rd charanam and ending humm look slightly tiring. May be, please acoompany at least harmonium to have some breath.
Pls don mistake me for the comments. It is genuine.

  18. Swami:

True. a background instrument would help the song rendition. BTW, I welcome criticizm. So, no probs.
