Dr. Lalita Venkatraman         

Lalita has a PhD in statistics and an MA degree in Classical Indian Dance. She is currently working as a quantitative  analyst for the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
 
Lalita has performed in India, USA and Australia at various prestigious avenues and has taught many students.  She currently runs Kalaarchana - an Indian classical dance school in Sydney

Qualifications:

• Teachers training (1994) from Art Society, Mumbai, India.
•  Master of Dance (1993) in Vazhuvoor Style from Art Society Mumbai, India.
• Arangetram (1993) under Guru P.N. Rajalaksmi.
• Bachelor of Dance (1992) in Vazhuvoor Style from Art Society Mumbai, India.

Advanced Training:

• Vazhuvoor style with Padmashri Chitra Visveswaran.
• Kalakshetra style with renowned Gurus M.V. Narasimhachari and Vasanthalakshmi Narasimhachari. 

Other Dance forms:

• Kathak training in with renowned danseuse Shila Mehta (Student of Pt. Chitresh Das and Pt. Birju Majaraj).
• Odissi training with Ms. Geeta Shah.
• Different Folk dances of India.

Professional Experience:

• Aug 06 – Nov 09: Taught Indian classical and folk dances at Hindu temple, Columbia, SC, USA.
• Oct 04 and Jan 05: Lecture and Demonstration on Indian Classical Dance, Dept. of Dance and Drama, USC, Columbia.
• Jun 95 - Apr 04: Choreographed and Taught Indian Classical dances at Art society, Mumbai, India.
• Dec 99 and Dec 00: Served as a judge for city level intercollegiate dance competitions, Mumbai, India.
• Feb 98 and Feb 99: Served as a judge for city level interschool dance competitions, Mumbai, India.
