En kaadhale - From Duet

Song : En kadhale
Movie : Duet
Singer: S.P.B
Composer : A.R.Rehman

Performed by :Murali

I was in undergrad when this musical extravaganza hit the theatres. As usual, I did not care much for the movie but was charmed by "thangame thamizukkilai thattuppaadu". It had wonderful beats, nice beats and to top all that, it was an SPB number. But what finally settled in my heart as my favorite was en kaadhale. It is a mesmerizing rendition by one and only S.P.B. The bhaavam is unmatched ! A beautiful tune immortalized by the immortal singer!

have tried my hand - Let me know what you guys think.

  6. "Amudhenbhadhaaa....? Vizhamenbhadhaa....? Amudhavizhamenbhadhaaa?" Catchy.

    Great song choice well suited to your voice. Crystal Clear Pronounciation. Excellent expression. Good background music.

    After listening to your song, I went and listened to the original. Seriously, I am struggling to differentiate. Amazing! Way to Go!

  8. The second kaadhale in "en kadhalae" seems hurried at places and some pop sounds and blows have managed to find their way thru the mic. Like all your other renditions there is so much of life in this. Good job Murali.

    Outstanding performance!

  11. I liked your start in both the charanams the best. Somehow the pallavi had distinctly different notes than the original which sounded quite odd to my ears. This was/is on my favourite list for so long now, I am probably obsessively stuck to those notes!! (-;

    Overall, a very tough song to do given especially the humungus task the original lays in front of any amateur.

    Good job @ emoting though!!

  15. I like the sound/quality of your voice very much Murali... Listened to this one over and over again..

    Won't find faults for the sake of finding them... near flawless rendition..

    Just that you tripped a little in the charanams during the lines "Vaazhvadha illai povadha"(1st charanam) and "En nanjile.." (2nd charanam).. Aaa..aa.aa.aa.aa izhukkum bodhu andha "trill" innum better-a vandhirukkalaam.

    Migavum rasithen! :-)

  20. Murali:

    Like I said, I am unsure what it is about the pallavi.Sounds real different to my ears whereas the charanams are well done. Somehow didn't do the trick for me. Sorry about that )-:

    Probably your singing is OK as usual, and me's just too picky about this song since it's one of my favourites.

    You are sooper cool when it comes to dealing with fingers pointed @ U!! Wish each one of us learns a thing or two from you being so open to taking criticisms (-;

    Your observation is appreciated. At home, in a good soundcard, with a good set of headphones, the "en nenjile.." portion sounded fine to my ears. But when I came to office and listened to it (in a pathetic soundcard with a pathetic headphones), I found the contextual relevance of your observation. You are right. I could have done better in the " en nenjilE.." portion. It is better sound good in all the soundcards. will ensure that in future.

    sindhu, ann, barani : thx. will try to perform at a level that is appreciative.

    marutham:

    I have not found my archana baby yet :)

    Meera:

    I have a theory. Once the product is out of the box, the artist must be prepared for criticizm - positive or negative. The very fact that you are taking an interest in expressing your honest views about my product makes me feel noticed. Any further comment must be, in my opinion, respectfuly welcomed. It may not be possible to implement all suggestions, however that is not to be a hindrance to hearing the suggesitons themselves. I faced a bulldozing session of questions and fared pathetically in the dry run of my phd defense presentation today. But the ones who questioned me are my friends and group mates. The good thing is that they are ready to help me till the final presentation. I think situations are similar. And being the fighter that I am, I will take only the essence of the comment and work hard :) Feel free to share frank opinions. I never stop giving them myself.

    TSJ:

    Good to have you here commenting positively. Makes me feel important :)

  38. Hi Murali,

    It was a good rendering, Good Expressions!

    I would suggest you to sing in your base while going to high pitches, especially in lines like "En nenjileyyy pani mootama... ". False voices are good, but base voices are the best...

    Thanks, Sasi

    Mulla - I heard this. It was good definetely. At some places, the voice was little shaky and there was an echo all along. I think it is more so with recording.

    Yet, the same song that you rendered in room#3 is still the best in my mind.
